Designtex

is reintroducing Hardwear and Sportswear, two extreme performance textile collections created in collaboration with textile designer Nancy Giesberger. The "tough-as-ever" textiles feature PVC-coated yarns that have been re-engineered to make the materials phthalate-free. Instead, Hardwear and Sportswear are now using an FDA-approved softening agent that allows "the products to comply with the phthalates restrictions of State of California Prop 65."

Extreme Performance Textiles and Wallcoverings Now Phthalate-Free

The optimized chemistry in Hardwear and Sportswear also improves the feel of the textiles, offering "greater subtleties in the weave construction," as well as pearlized yarns for sheen. Armour is a new wallcovering for the Hardwear collection available in 13 neutral colorways. Four new sportswear upholsteries designed specifically for indoor and outdoor stadium seating-Bit, Bolt, Rivet, and Rivet Pearl-use a variety of weave techniques to offer bold color, refined texture, and sophisticated patterns.

Although Hardwear and Sportswear were created for sports venues, the textiles offer characteristics that make them suitable for healthcare, transportation, and other contract markets. With colors such as Aquamarine, Bronze, and Lawn, these new phthalate-free PVC textiles look good on paper and in reality.
