Beautiful Copper Bathtubs by William Holland
I can count with three mere fingers the number of times I’ve been truly intrigued by the design possibilities of copper: the first concerned a six-piece set of copper cookware I eyeballed enviously in the rarefied reaches of London’s famed Harrods department store; the second involved the copper-peaked roof capping the University of Denver’s new recreation center; and the third occurred just today, when I first laid eyes on William Holland’s sublime collection of copper baths.

William Holland’s Luxurious Baths are Finished in Copper or Enameled Tin
Apropos of new materials in the bathroom…. I knew one could make a tub from lacquered wood (Urushi); I was aware, even, that it was the fashion in Scandinavia to fashion outdoor baths of hammered aluminum (Hikki); but it never before crossed my mind that the sheer brilliance and decadence of copper were proper fodder for such ablutional delights.
It’s a good thing that notion occurred to William Holland. The U.K.-based manufacturer has made a habit of—and earned a stellar reputation for—creating tubs “handcrafted from copper and brass… with each individual piece taking our skilled craftsmen up to 120 hours to create.”
Each tub is made from copper or brass, but W.H. leaves it up to the client to determine the finish. Options include a subdued enameled tin, a resplendent nickel, an elegant enamel, shiny silver, or even a gorgeous gold.
If, however, your disposition tends towards the unparalleled bronzy brilliance of W.H.’s signature copper, the company offers that in spades—each preserved in all its reflective glory and luminous luster via a measured application of the company’s durable coating, thus maintaining the luxurious look for generations of future bathers.

About the Manufacturer: W.H. Holland is the only manufacturer of copper bathtubs in all of Europe. Looking at the fine craft and elegant aesthetic of the company’s extensive line of copper and brass tubs, one senses that, even were it not for this exclusivity, we’d still happen upon their wares in swanky locations like Babington House, The Fox & Anchor, and the Langdale Hotel.
