Hastings Table Lamp by West Elm
Sleek: /slēk/ smooth and glossy as if polished; (of an object) having an elegant, streamlined shape or design.
National Mushroom Day happens to fall on October 15, and National Dictionary Day is just on its heels on October 16, in honor of Noah Webster’s birthday on the same day back in 1758.
Throughout the year, we collectively marvel at how mushrooms serve as muse for the world of design. Equally, as writers, we are lovers of words, so what would it look like if we tried to celebrate…both?
Our theme this week requires we define a word and revel in the organic mastery of mushroom-like lighting, seating, and architectural finishes. Et voilà, we begin with Hastings Table Lamp.
Hastings Table Lamp by West Elm is certainly sleek and shiny. In mushroom terms, it’s more cremini than chanterelle, more champignon than morel.
Its mushroom top, so to speak, is an Art Deco-inspired dome with an accompanying matching base.
Hastings draws its power from a clear PVC cord with an in-line rocker on/off switch.
Hastings comes in three colors: Dark Bronze, Light Bronze, or Oxblood.
Dark Bronze and Oxblood are powder coated. Light Bronze is a marvelous metallic finish.
Hastings is a lustrous addition to side tables, desks, or nightstands.
