Go with the Grain and spend some time with artisanal furniture makers as they offer workshops during London Design Festival.

These workshops aren’t necessarily hands-on, but they are up-close, intimate, and comprehensive. You’ve heard of “farm to table”?, while this is “tree to table”: “an exclusive look at the making of our American Walnut Kielder Range, from selection and preparation of timber to the machine and hand processes we use to create tables.”

As for Kielder itself, it’s available in the aforementioned Walnut or Oak with top in Walnut veneer, Birch plywood or choice of six different linoleum finishes. The streamlined edge detail is achieved via solid lipping that’s over-veneered with crown-cut Oak. Kielder is hand-finished with a water-based lacquer.
