At #IIDEX09: Eurofase Presents Orilla, in Fuchsia!

If you’ve happened by booth #1001 at #IIDEX09 you might be wondering about the multi-pronged, iridescent, slightly alienesque and most definitely phallic hot pink lightpiece adorning the environs. If you didn‘t get the chance to ask the designers at Eurofase about this particularly striking piece, here are the goods: the Orilla lamp is a 10 light candelabra-style chandelier with “cups” finished in white-sugar glass.

Orilla. Designed by Eurofase.

Though Orilla is actually a traditionally-styled piece (recalling, for me, the stunning and perilously-hung wax-laden candelabras of Gothic horror films), the fuchsia finish gives this rare incarnation a personality all its own. And to highlight this singular effect (what I like to characterize as Bela Lugosi in Drag or an updated set-piece for the Rocky Horror Picture Show), Eurofase is displaying Orilla with a compelling backdrop of big black circles on a broad expanse of fuchsia wall.

The display highlights some of the intricacies of the chandelier you might miss if it were more conventionally showcased (or more conventionally colored). I’m referring mostly to the reptilian ridges along its arthropod arms, a baroque touch that makes a lovely (if strange) complement to the vivid hue. All told, Orilla is a bold and daring take on a traditionally-conceived light. Be sure to check it out before show’s end!
