Salone 2025: The Many Marvels of Moooi

The design world is once again reconvening in Milan for the much-anticipated Salone del Mobile 2025. This year’s event “Thought for Humans” is taking place at Rho Fiera from 8 – 13 April 2025.

Our show coverage begins with Moooi, the Dutch design group with that purposeful extra “o” in their name meant to convey something above and beyond. They are certainly shining extra bright this year.

Moooi will be celebrating “A Life Extraordinary” across three locations: their booth, a serene outdoor installation featuring new ceramic surfaces, and their first-ever Milan store (!!), which they are thrilled to be unveiling. All three destinations will showcase unexpected new designs, from sculptural furniture and carpets to bold ceramic surfaces to exciting interactive lighting.

Luminora Light by Cristina Celestino

Luminora Light by Cristina Celestino balances Murano-inspired grandeur with the precision of the golden ratio, forming a luminous sculpture of floating light.

The V-shaped diamond optical pattern and transparent LED tubes produce a mesmerizing effect.

Drape Light by Jamie Wolfond

Drape Light by Jamie Wolfond combines geometric structure with a 3D-knitted shade shaped by gravity. This light succumbs to the constraints of Earth, and we can relate.

The shade drapes over two minimalistic glass LED tube lights and comes in two sizes.

The Beta Phase of Living Pebble

Nature doesn’t quit, and neither does Moooi. Charged with the “what if” question, “What if design could become something more fluid, responsive, and alive,” they dreamed up Living Pebble, a first-of-its-kind innovation that brings Moooi lights to life.

Living Pebble

This add-on allows Moooi lighting to shift and dim, evolving just as the day does right outside your window. Living Pebble is in its Beta phase—a fine time to debut this work-in-progress and showcase it here in Milan.

Two dimensions of movement—light waves and physical motion—turn static illumination into a sensual feast. Living Pebble offers four “poetic” modes—”Dream,” “Twinkle,” “Whisper,” and “Dance.” Dream is a “soft, flowing glow” like clouds drifting by; Twinkle mimics the lively flicker of starlight; Whisper is a subtle sway; and Dance conveys expressive motion.

Straw Bales to Lounge Chairs

Haybale Lounge Chair with Footstool by Nicholas Baker is a reinterpretation of rural nostalgia.

What was green turns gold and then is transformed from twined bales to sculptural statements of comfort.

Lastly, don’t miss collaborations between Moooi and digital artist Ada Sokól along with pink-curtained sculptures by Argentinian visual artist Andrés Reisinger at the new Moooi storefront. Sokól’s amazing virtual creatures convey jaw-dropping lifelike movement.

Among them you’ll find a mysterious Indigo Macaque; the bejeweled ostrich Reiki Rhea (caught up making patterns in the sand); and a pink Blooming Seadragon with algae-like appendages, phosphorescent sparkles on her back, and a fantastical tail clutching a monocle. All three may be seen at the immersive installation (in collaboration with ABK Group Studio) on Via Fernanda Wittgens 12 from 7-13 April.

Moooi at Milan

Robin Bevers, CEO of Moooi said, “Moooi has always been a brand that challenges the ordinary, and Milan 2025 reflects that. With our first store in Milan and our return to Salone del Mobile, we are opening doors—both figuratively and literally—to a world where design knows no limits.”
