There’s little that’s more elemental than metal—ancient deposits of molten ore inextricably embedded in the rock as epoch evolves into epoch.

Inextricable, that is, until the ingenuity of home sapiens begets its extraction—a dramatic disentanglement that’s also a nice analogue for spring, with its warmth dissipating snow into liquid, the according revelation and budding forth of all that has been hidden, including beds of igneous rock and the mysteries deep within.

This week’s metallic theme kicks off with new options from Chemetal—one of the industry’s largest purveyors of decorative laminated metal “for commercial interior projects in hospitality, retail, corporate, signage, furniture, restaurant, stadium and arena environments.”

Nothing says precision and polish like an imposing wall of brushed metal. Just so, the three new architectural metals in Chemetal’s 600 Series are serious yet elegant—high-performance printed metals in gradients of alluring dark: from the metallic blue tones of Cobalt (above) to the subtle shimmer of Nubian (below).

The third in this new series, Cleopatra (image of bar above and detail below), is a softer species of brass that highlights gold and yellow tones, a slightly more feminine take on Chemetal’s antiqued brass designs.

All three of the new designs are available in 4′ x 8′ sheets. Cobalt and Nubian feature an exterior-rated Lumiflon coating to help withstand the elements—just as the metal of its origin has done for eons!
