Salone 2024: The Magical World of Circu
I wish they had this when I was a kid. Circu, a children’s furniture manufacturer based in Portugal, offers beds, seating, desks, tables, lighting, and accessories, all of which fascinate and delight. With evocative shapes and a dreamy palette of colors, Circu’s pieces are immersive and inspring, “allowing children to live their fantasies and create a magical world.”
The stand at Salone features an assemblage of their most popular pieces. Animals are writ large, with many a subtly integrated snout or temerous tusk. The bunny bed offers a not-so-subtle display of ears as headboard, with an equally overt pair of paws at the foot, the whole backed by a golden arch outlining a wall of speckled spots.
The hot air balloon circular seating looks as if it may launch at any moment, propelling its inhabitants on a soaring adventure into the moody mist above, albeit amid the plushest confines this dubious conveyance has ever offered.
Next, here’s the adorable pairing of the Marshmallow Activity Table with the Bon Bon and Baloo chairs. The former aptly captures the splat of a melted marshmallow beneath an interactive blackboard top, while the latter explore the timeless synergy (in childrens’ imaginations) between animals and sweets, with bears’ ears and a seat that looks like a chocolate macaroon.
There’s also the inventive circular seating niche with custom formed pillow and LED backlighting (pictured above as inhabited by a surprisingly amiable badger), as well as the charming elephant ottomans integrated throughout.
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the mesmerizing Cloud pendants, a fluffy burst of luminiscent wonder that’s a dead ringer for dreamscape cumulus, and the slow and pleasant floating that’s doubtless to be done within and about and right on through.
Circu’s stand is an expansive space where one’s imagination can really stretch and soar. Bring your kids and check it out at Salone del Mobile.Milano, happening now through Saturday, April 21.
