Oru Takes Best of Interior Design, Seating
Building momentum off early NeoCon accolades, Andreu World and Patricia Urquiola get another notch in the proverbial belt with a win for Best Contract Seating in Interior Designs’ annual awards.
Oru embodies a kind of perfect storm for idealized design characteristics. Not only does it evoke an in-vogue 70s vibe, it also pays homage to classical Japanese forms, and—this being Urquiola—is eco-wise and sustainable.
The chair’s “striking architecture of three legs” has a functional side: it disassembles easily for quick reincorporation into the product stream.
Oru also features recycled material in the upholstery and internal foam, upping its sustainability credentials yet further, and confirming Andreu World’s commitment to the circular economy.
Speaking of upholstery, Oru comes with upholstered seats in many colors. Backrests are wood, with an upholstery option too. The collection includes stools in different heights and chairs with armrests.
