Otratex is Ultra Kind to the Environment
Otratex from Fil Doux Textiles is a phthalate-free vinyl treated with enzymes that turn this typically non-degradable textile into an earth-friendly material that biodegrades within 30 years.
This makes it a good fit for the moment: Otratex offers all the benefits of vinyl (versatility, durability, clean-ability) without taxing the environment: “Within 30 years, the material fully decomposes when placed in an anaerobic environment such as a landfill, returning to the natural elements that comprise it.”
And Fil Doux Textile’s latest innovation ups the ante. The Moody Blues collection is the very first Otratex product treated with the proprietary Pro-Tech Plus, a revolutionary protectant that withstands the cleaning and sanitation demands of hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships—all the more crucial in the age of Covid-19.
Brooklyn-based Fil Doux Textiles produces earth-friendly fabrics with sustainable methods in vertical mills located in Chile and Brazil. The company employs wind and solar power, recycles dye water, and reuses fabric for packaging.
