As we now spend more than 75% of our waking hours in the office, more and more contract designers are looking to add warmer, more homey touches to office spaces. Often overlooked in this quest for a more comfortable working environment is shelving. Danish manufacturer DK3, established in 2009, set about to change this with the re-introduction of the ROYAL SYSTEM in 2010.

Originally designed in 1948 by Danish designer Paul Cadovius, this clever system uses contemporary materials such as walnut, oak, compact laminate with steel, as well as thoughfully elegant touches such as brass fittings. The system is comprised of stringers, hangers, shelves, and cabinets, all custom designed to create an extraordinary storage and shelving system for any office or contract environment.

Also from the DK3 shelving range is the Cadovius Butterfly Shelf, a whimsical and self supporting shelf made from a variety of luxurious woods and provide an ingenious way to add extra storage for books in small offices or extra decorations in cafes and restaurants.
