If you read our recent post on the trend for designing plant life into office furniture, you’ll know that this is something that Swedish company Offect are particularly good at. Offect’s latest product, Smallroom by Dutch designer Ineke Hans, demonstrates this perfectly.

Smallroom is a seating system which aims to bring more plant life into the interior.

Ineke was asked to design a piece of furniture to fit into Offect’s O2ASIS initiative; a collection of design products which use flowers and plants to increase and add value to interiors. With this in mind Hans conceived ‘Smallroom’, a seating unit which is characterised by a box on one side which functions wither as a planter or as a working surface with optional power devices.

The protective high back of the sofa provides a degree of privacy and is the inspiration behind the product’s name – Smallroom. Offered with different back and side heights, the sofas can be used together in different modules or as stand alone pieces. The design works well as part of a modern office space providing areas for various types of work, conversations and meetings to take place.
