Robert Bronwasser’s Inventive Coat Lamp Shines for Cascando
On the short list of recent hybrid concepts featured on 3rings, I'd give a nod to notables Serie T Radiator (Thun and Rodriguez), Goccia Kitchen Faucet (Gessi), and the Murano Collection of Kitchen Hoods (Futuro Futuro) Each of these inventive products solves a problem by doing a double duty, as, respectively, heat source/storage, dining table/basin, and air extractor/light source. The addition of Robert Bronwasser's Coat Lamp for Cascando calls on the organizational propensities of Serie T and the illuminatory capacity of the Murano Hoods to present a tall standing floor lamp that begs you to remove your outerwear and stay a while.

Dual Function with a Slim, Bright Aesthetic
Bronwasser's lamp/coat rack is a contemporary affair of concentric circles-the broad, flat base constituting the first, the thin cylindrical shaft comprising the second, and the perfectly centrifugal shade forming the third. That formula-which includes anodized aluminum and a fabric shade in various colors-would be quite sufficient, thank you, for a smart looking lamp beneath which one might compose oneself (in Verner Panton's classic S Chair, apparently) for hours of literary contentment. But closer inspection reveals a cleverly hidden bank of thimble sized coat hooks at the same level as the lower terminus of the shade.
These appendages are achieved quite seamlessly-and in aesthetic conformance, I might add-via the simple disc of aluminum encircling the shaft. The hooks themselves resemble half nickels, simply pinched-up at right angles to form a perfectly-sized perch for your suit jacket, overcoat, hoodie, what have you... Bronwasser's Studio, with the half hip/half self-effacing name of Smool, is known for "recognizable and transparent styling, use of bright colors, and user-friendliness." The clever Coat Lamp-which, incidentally, can be outfitted with or (for those who might enjoy the misdirection) without integrated lighting-gives the truth to the assertion. It will not only put a perpetual smile on the face of said user, but will also brighten her day in more ways than one.
