While the cereal aisle contains far too many choices for being of simple starches and hopefully fiber, restaurants’ lack of vegetarian options can leave much to be desired. Perhaps dependent upon the rank of your birth between siblings, too many choices can sure stress out a normally-sane person. Semigood Design is an unconventional furniture design company dedicated to making the “right choice” by providing the perfect handful of options.

In Dwell on Design in Los Angeles last month, it was great to see our favorite independent company (whose Semigood mailbox was featured here in 2008) take the plunge into the realm of ready-to-assemble flat pack line with the Rian RTA Collection.

First thing’s first–the materials they stick to are solid, locally-sourced, and of the highest possible quality. Seeing as they’re based in the great NW region, it’s not difficult to understand how the Rian RTA Collection collects their resources from just 5 miles away. You have your choice of just three woods–white oak, walnut, and white ash–all FSC-certified woods and hand-built to perfection.

Next, the aluminum profiles come coated in your choice of color. They allow you to do choose a stock color or go for a custom-paint job on your stool or bench to match a theme represented in your company. You could even choose that of another, like the luscious orange of Hermés, if it suits your fancy. The thing is, anything goes. Take Dwell Magazine for example – they custom-painted their stools in a bold, grassy green. Not that this wasn’t enough, they’ve taken it a step further for the artistic types. You can deck it out in your own design, like the surf-aquatic theme that designer Mike Perry did, and they’ll illustrate your stool to your exact specification.

Finally, the Rian RTA Collection is offered in an assortment of standard sizes and shapes, though custom shapes are available also: a 17″ stool, 26″ counter height bar stool, 29″ bar stool, and a 40″ wide bench.
