Live at #NeoCon10: The Volant HL3 Chairs by Falcon
As designers, architects and enthusiasts we’ll gladly confess to adoring diverse types of nice furniture. One thing we are less likely to admit is our gratitude to designers who come up with furniture that is easy to lift, stack, and put out of sight. Naturally, our tendency in the past was to think of the common folding chair as something we bring out only when there is the need, definitely not when we’re trying to impress. But in the past decade or so, much less squeaky options have sprung into the design scene. Take for instance the Volantâ„¢ HL3 by Falcon that has been creating colorful waves at the NeoCon last week.
Volant HL3. Designed by Falcon.
The Volant takes stackable seating for the conference room, trade show, dining hall, and classroom to an entirely new level. Designed by Lucci Orlandini – a team that has created over 500 products since 1970, including a total production of chairs that exceeds 3,500,000 – we can agree they know the effect of good seating. As they’d no doubt agree, the key to designing a beautiful, lightweight chair is to offer profound versatility. The Volant comes either upholstered or in a solid or dual-color poly-seat and back with a polished outside back and a comfortable, slip-resistant inside seat. Each of these components are available in multiple colors and can be customized to coordinate any space. The elliptical frame is made of aluminum. It cradles the contoured seat and back to achieve perfect ergonomics. An added plus to the chair is the flexibility of five different Volant chair designs that include: side, arm, caster, five star swivel, and beam.
Since the company’s inception fifty years ago, Falcon has focused on technology and design in every way. They use the best designers for tables and seating solutions that complement commercial projects and remain on the cutting edge of technology and design. In fact, Falcon itself is committed to the same excellence they produce. Their facility in Europe earned ISO 14001 certification and is committed to remaining on the forefront of technology as one of just a few furniture manufacturing factories that uses wind turbines to generate renewable energy. Also, Falcon only purchases FSC hardwoods and can use bio foam and recycled materials upon request for LEED point projects.
