Itre’s The Great JJ Outdoor Lamp
Is bigger better? Itre’s The Great JJ lamp, designed by Centro Stile design studio, is a take-off on Jac Jacobsen’s ever-popular architect lamp. It was first developed as mammoth floor lamp – and is now being debuted as an equally over-scaled outdoor version. These dramatic, grand-scale lighting solutions have become something of a trend lately. Check out Rosalie de Kruyf’s jewelXLery and Moooi’s Brave New World Lamp (whose pictures simply don’t do it justice, at least in terms of scale). Defined by drama and adaptability, this lighting is designed to be the spotlight, and of course provide it too.

Jac Jacobsen’s L-1 architect lamp, designed in 1937, is perhaps one of the most famous (or at least recognizable) lamps in the world. Designers likely remember having some rendition of it on their drafting tables – or still do. The Great JJ Outdoor was designed Centro Stile design studio with exaggerated proportions for an entirely surreal aesthetic. It is composed of a highly adjustable armature, capable of stretching the design to an impressive height of almost 14 ft and features an aluminium diffuser can rotate up to 105 °. In effect, it maintains the same functional adaptability as the original L-1, but adds a theatrical finesse through its imposing stature. Simultaneously classic and modern, you simply can’t go wrong.
The Great JJ Outdoor is available in matte black, matte white and matte light grey with the inside of the diffuser finished in either white lacquer in the white model or aluminium grey in the light grey and black models. The Great JJ takes a fluorescent 70 watt GX24q-6 socket.
