Berkeley Mills Custom Kitchen Design

No need to compromise with modular, one-size-fits-all “solutions”: Berkeley Mills can customize a kitchen to your precise needs and desires.  “Beautiful to look at, satisfying to use, they blend superior European technology, functionality, and ergonomic design with the Berkeley Mills tradition of premium woods, quality craftsmanship, and enduring style.”  The custom cabinetry is built from premium grade hardwood with mortise and tenon joinery and finished with catalyzed lacquers to enhance the wood’s natural beauty.

Begun in 1988, Berkeley Mills’ aesthetic is a fusion of East and West that balances purity of line with functional purpose. Berkeley Mills designs, builds, delivers and installs furniture, kitchens and architectural millwork for both residential and commercial environments.  The goal of the company has always been “to make furniture of such enduring design and quality that it transforms one’s surroundings by adding sophistication, serenity, beauty and comfort to the environment.”  The founders admired the aesthetics of artists such as Morris, Stickley, Greene and Wright and its affinity with classic Asian designs.

The finished Natural Walnut Kitchen exemplifies their drive for an aesthetic fusion of East and West.  This, along with all of their custom kitchens, blends European technology with natural, sustainable materials and thoughtful, ergonomic design. A Berkeley Mills designer collaborates with the customer, who effectively serves as a partner in the design process in order to achieve the kitchen that best fits their lifestyle – both in terms of functionality and aesthetics. From the beautiful vertical continuous grain and the nodes in flat grain panels to the interplay of natural and amber colors on cabinet doors; a variety of handles, wood type, grain direction, and style: Berkeley Mills custom kitchens are designed to fit their user in every possible way.

Berkeley Mills is committed to ecologically sound manufacturing and business practices: supporting sustainable forestry and the responsible use of  the precious resource wood, which is the heart of their business. The California based company was one of the first furniture companies in the United States to earn FSC-certification as a responsible link in this chain of custody (which begins the moment the wood is cut, through its delivery to a manufacturer and ultimately into the consumer’s hands.)
