But that’s what DWR is doing this month. Eva Zeisel is highly iconic, having received the National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement from the National Design Museum, Smithsonian, in 2005 – the year before she turned 100. She’s still designing today.

Although she made her mark in ceramics, Zeisel decided to take a turn at tables a few years ago, when she was already in her 90s. She went at it with her usual zest, and her defiantly pre-Bauhaus preference for curvilinear and ornamental form.

“I always live life in the present,” she says. “Eternity is only in the present.”

This coffee table, constructed of black-laquered ash with .5″ tempered glass, is most certainly eternal.
