Weekly Wrap-up: Fast Emerging Names in Lighting Design

Though some would argue that the prolonged hours of summer daylight pouring through the windows reduce the immediate necessity for sexy interior lighting, we at 3rings are inclined to disagree. From the launch of a genre-defying lamp composed of individual wood pieces to lights that resemble the cosmic residue of asteroids hurdling towards earth, here is a sweet taste of some hot new names on our radar.

1. Launching officially stateside today in B&B Italia’s Soho showroom, Moooi’s Brave New World Lamp designed by Freshwest is an extremely unusual, yet extraordinarily re”fresh”ing lamp that rocks a special kind of construction scaffolding-cum-Campanas Brothers favela chic.

2. Another emerging name in lighting design is that of the design duo at Niche Modern whose simple, Edison-style single exposed bulb pendants and chandeliers bring together and old-school look with a contemporary edge.

3. Another favorite in the category of growing names in lighting design is Steven Haulenbeek, Chicago-based industrial designed who recently emerged from a DWR design contest with a few awards in tow. His Spacerocks series will no doubt will follow in the wake of his star status as he catapults towards intergalactic fame.
