As opposed to thirty small sofas pushed together in order to form a web of public seating for large spaces, the Pipeline design by Harry Allen for Dune flows into a space as if it were custom-designed to fit every angle.

Colorful Pipeline Seating Flows Around Large Spaces Thanks to  Harry Allen and Dune

Consisting of four upholstered pipe-shaped components that can be put together in hundreds of configurations like a colorful toy train, the Pipeline group seating unit is a modern seating solution for large-scale projects. The four units to choose from are a 4′ pipe, a cross connector, a t-connector, and an elbow that can curve up to become a table for all surface-necessary studying or snacking.

Each of these parts join together with the leg or wall-mounted supports that allow the Pipeline to continue its outward motion, creating an everlasting movement while providing comfortable seating. Each part of the seating unit is upholstered in a polyurethane foam over an MDF and solid wood frame. It seems that just as the components remain brilliant in color and ultra durable to wear and tear, the legs remain just as strong. Made from aluminum in a polished finish, they hold the otherwise rolling shape securely in place.

The Pratt Institute-educated Harry Allen has designed a long list of industrial design, interior design, graphic design, and identity development successes under his belt. Most often, his furnishings are picked up by Dune, Habitat or Magis, whereas his other areas of expertise support a wide variety of clients in everything from point-of-purchase displays for Prescriptives Cosmetics to the interior design of the Moss design gallery in New York City’s Soho district.
