Onyx by Luminaire Authentik
We’re keeping it honest this week by sticking to products made primarily of 100% natural materials.
Though the concept of “natural” might be a bit of a slippery slope (even PVC owes its ultimate origin to Mother Earth), we’ll just assert that you know it when you see it: the deep graining of wood, the purity of glass, the solidity of stone.
Apropos of the above, here’s Onyx by Luminaire Authentik. This collection of sconces, luminaires, and lamps features solid Onyx.
As the manufacturer informs us, Onyx is a versatile stone distinguished by its impressive color variation. Deep browns, rich creams, sparkling whites, even the occasional surprise shot of red count among its potentialities.
It’s also a particularly hard species, meaning the stone must be cut and shaped with specialized tools. Luminaire Authentik invites you into this process. Clients pre-select among rough blocks of stone, at which point L.A.’s artisans will cut, carve, shape, and polish it into something resembling the compelling creations seen here.
While the process may be somewhat mechanized, the result is not. Each light in the Onyx collection is singular and special: “The stone has a different composition and it is impossible to predict what nature will provide… We consider each piece a unique work of art, with its own personality and shades of color.”
Five color palettes are available: cream, light amber, dark amber, rust, and barista. See Luminaire Authentik for additional details.
