Architectural Profile: 1144 Fifteenth by Pickard Chilton
Officially opened in March 2018, 1144 Fifteenth has transformed the Denver skyline, offering a welcome respite to flat-topped skyscrapers with its signature slanted top.
Internationally renowned architecture firm Pickard Chilton explains the building’s geometry: “The elegant tower and its massing have been designed to be evocative of the surrounding Rocky Mountains and to establish a geological metaphor within its urban context.”
The tallest skyscraper added to Denver’s skyline in 30 years, the forty-story office tower has a special location on the edge of Denver’s LoDo (Lower Downtown) neighborhood. The height of new construction to the building’s west is limited by design codes, so 1144 Fifteenth will have unobstructed views of the Front Range peaks of the Rocky Mountains–now and in the future.
A modern office tower meant to respond to collaborative work styles, 1144 Fifteenth features a double-height lobby finished in wood, stone, and stainless steel. The building’s glass-curtain wall offers beautiful city and mountain views. It also hides 13 floors of parking, offering much-needed commuter and visitor parking without dominating the building’s aesthetic.
1144 Fifteenth is a LEED-Gold-certified workplace with a state-of-the-art air filtration system and 10-foot ceiling height on office floors. By providing “maximum natural luminosity,” the building should have a “tonic effect” on workers. Get more information at 1144 Fifteenth.
