Let Us Extol the Virtues of Lumber

“Pause, perch, or linger,” with Lumber, a clever combo stool, bench, and table that promises an end to the awkward office mainstay of standing around.

At the very least, Lumber offers a place to put a well-intentioned leg. At most, it’s an ingenious multi-use furnishing that invites congregation—and not the unsettling kind that prompts hands to delve into pockets or nervous leanings into walls.

Lumber, to the contrary, likes company. With its minimalist ethos and shape like a cylindrical pommel horse, Lumber is both unusual and familiar. It invites in and opens up the space around it—not unlike a well-designed kitchen island.

Mizetto waxes poetic about Lumber’s versatility, an earned accolade reflected in awards from HiP, Best of NeoCon, Interior Design, and dezeen: “It adapts effortlessly as a freestanding sculptural resting point, a room divider, or an informal gathering spot.”

Designer Addi also cuts right to the heart of Lumber’s appeal: “We wrestled with how minimal a piece can be and still hold a lot of character. “

The answer is a lot. Lumber’s personality is augmented with its material make-up: metal frame, padded and upholstered with flame-proof wool and legs in powder-coated metal. The metallic theme is echoed with Lumber’s color palette of black, dusty blue, and deep burgundy—with an additional nod to the earthier colors of latte and forest green.

Does Lumber need extra enthusiasms to recommend it? Don’t think so, but just in case: Lumber has a modular design that’s easy to assemble and take apart. The legs and table-top are exchangeable for creative color schemes. And the zippered fabric is easy to remove, wash, and replace.
