Cook-a-Doodle-Doo: Calida Wall Sconce at Black Rooster
In honor of Black History Month, we bring you design from Black designers and Black-owned businesses. Toronto-based brick-and-mortar store Black Rooster curates furniture, lighting, and accessories from all over the world. Founded by husband and wife Nina Ber-Donkor and Price Brefo-Donkor, the company also offers online shopping. New lighting at their shop includes the Calida Wall Sconce, a linear luminaire with geometric flair and textural interest.

Calida is all about mixing materials. With a travertine or black marble center column and mottled globes, the sconce pairs earthy stone with milky glass. Black Rooster notes, “The milky, mottled glass beautifully complements the pale veins in the travertine, while the metal’s antique brass finish emanates warmth in this fixture.” The Calida Black Wall Sconce features black marble, giving it a sleek look.

This geometric wonder can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and we can’t decide which way we like it best! Place it vertically between vanities for lovely light and beautiful separation. Or hang it horizontally above beloved artwork.
