Bespoke Geometry: EDIT (036) Perfume Bottles by Lavernia & Cienfuegos
EDIT (036) is a collection of geometric perfume bottles created by Spanish studio Lavernia & Cienfuegos. Each bottle unites three pieces: cap, glass bottle, and base. The bottles incorporate customization to reflect that different people enjoy different scents. Given the colors, shapes, and bespoke nature of EDIT (036), we find the design encapsulates the spirit of Pride Month: every perfume bottle represents the multiplicity of individuals that make up our diverse world.
While the central element is always made of glass, the cylinder comes in five finishes, varying in translucency and reflectivity. The cap and base create ultimate customizability by offering choices in material, shape, and color. These modules come in six geometric shapes: sphere, cylinder, cone, hexagon, cube, and half-capsule. Cap/base pieces come in five materials: glass, metal, porcelain, stone, and wood. Not infinite, exactly, but the three elements together yield 40,500 possible combinations.
According to Lavernia & Cienfuegos, EDIT (036) perfume bottles combine two design elements: customization and “the incorporation of the emotional dimension as an important part of the relationship between object and user.“
