The Companions Desk Invites Close Company

Portugal-based De La Espada and Studio Ilse propose the company of one with the Companions Writing Desk, a nifty piece of work with a confluence of wood and cork.

When closed, Companions is a sleek, mid-height writing surface with a clever slim storage space.

But open it up (old school flip-top style) and discover a convenient and contained workspace, complete with a tackable cork surface and nifty repository to keep plugs and wires out of sight.

And when they’re out of sight they’re out of mind. Companions offers this soft touch in addition to the soft-close mechanism of the hinged tabletop, “punctuated by the wedge tenon joint where the leg intersects the surface.”

De La Espada and Studio Ilse make compatible bedfellows: the former specializes in meticulous handcrafting and precise engineering of solid wood; the latter relishes close collaboration with accomplished brands, “for end products that are both rigorous and environmentally sound.”
