As with most things Edra, Alice is a functional piece of furniture-and so much more. Designed by Jacopo Foggini, Alice does indeed provide a place to sit but its appeal depends more on its artistic quality: Alice resembles a molded pile of spaghetti solidified by ectoplasmic glue.

Constructed of polycarbonate monocoque using a technique in which plastic ropes are "applied manually with artistic gestures," Alice is intended for both indoor and outdoor use. And, in case its shape and texture are not enough, the chair also incorporates LED strip lighting, making it appear to glow as if equipped with an alien heart.

While Alice comes in shades of green and fuchsia pink, the petrol blue with lemon yellow color animates the chair in a most otherworldly fashion. The oil-slick ombr© effect makes Alice look like a frozen colony of bioluminescent microbes.

Sculptural and perfectly imperfect, Alice calls attention to the chair as a way of being in the world as opposed to as a static object. The chair becomes a pathway to examining how we view our surroundings instead of a receptacle for sitting-and Alice reminds us to celebrate the primordial act of creation in all its messy beauty.
