Patrick Jouin’s Elipse Chair for Zanotta
Winner at the recent NYCxDESIGN fair in the “Best Seating: Contract Guest” category, Elipse by Patrick Jouin for Zanotta lives up to its characterization as "ironic and empathetic."
How is Elipse ironic? In the playful contrast between its perforated aesthetic and its structure (durable aluminum alloy frame with polypropylene seat and backrest).
How is it empathetic? By embracing user and surroundings in equal measure-via its accommodating ergonomic contours as well as the playful hole in its backrest.
Elipse likely won for its versatility and vivacity. The chair is light and bright and long on negative space-always crowd-pleasers. Plus, it’s portable and functional, filling a variety of seating needs from multi-use office to hospitality to residential.
There's also its formal innovation: the elliptical forms that sketch out back, seat, and legs, simultaneously achieving a clean, streamlined silhouette and embracing organic shapes.
Elipse is available in white, black, anthracite, and amaranth. Contact Zanotta to find out more.
