The Gershwin Heirloom Desk by Armored Frog
Author and composer of such ubiquitous tunes as "I Got Rhythm," "Rhapsody in Blue," and "Someone to Watch Over Me," George Gershwin remains a fundamental voice in the history and evolution of modern music. His brother Ira (working for much of his life as Arthur Francis so as not to capitalize on his brother's success) partnered with George to write some of the more famous songs in addition to scoring multiple Hollywood musicals and Broadway plays.
So what do the Gershwins have to do with this beautiful Heirloom Desk from Armored Frog? Their productive collaboration was the inspiration: "A partner's desk inspired by their grandfather, Jakov [Gershowitz], who served 25 years in the Imperial Russian Army to earn the right of free travel and residence as a Jewish man."
It's a loving and lovely homage to hard work and an amicable working relationship. The desk is a fine, handcrafted piece of antique heart pain stained in dark chocolate tung oil.
Every detail here is on point, from the joinery between legs and worktop to the precise dovetailed joints of the drawers.
Part of Armored Frog's Valor Series, the Gershwin Heirloom Desk is available in a variety of standard and customized finish options. Its dimensions jibe well with its economical appearance: standard size is 72" x 36" x 31", the long side dividing neatly into two three-foot spans for working side by side.
