Conduit Sofa and Double Table by Jörg Schellmann for Moroso
Inspired by minimalist art, a new collection for Moroso by German designer Jörg Schellmann depends on radical simplicity and supreme functionality. Conduit Sofa and Armchair juxtaposes soft blocks with thin tubes. And Double Table-a piece conceived mathematically from the equation table + table=Double Table-is multifunctional, serving as a work, conference, or dining table.
New Furniture Designs Reference Minimalist Art
Conduit Sofa is available as a two- and three-seater. Along with Conduit Armchair, Conduit Sofa recalls the connectivity and electricity of modern life with its winding brightly colored tube. Meant to reference the "Cell and Conduit" painting by Peter Halley, Conduit Sofa and Armchair celebrate functionality with their extra wide arms, which accommodate newspapers, books, and laptops.
Double Table features two contrasting top materials, which give the table its name and identity. Like other designs by Schellmann, Double Table has clear purpose: "The surface area of the table is increased 100% by pulling out both tops with just one hand." In the open position, Double Table "rests in delicate balance," explains Moroso.
