Inspired by "travels to cities steeped in gilded history where architecture is punctuated by flashes of brilliant gold," the Aurora Collection by Sara Baldwin for New Ravenna is a study in resplendence. Each of the 24 mosaic designs is handcrafted using natural stone, 24k gold glass, jewel glass, and shell. Assembled by artisans in Virginia, every pattern in the collection comes together from hundreds of small pieces.

Custom Mosaic Collection Revels in Golden Detail

Designer Baldwin thought of certain cities in particular when she created the Aurora Collection: "Paris, Istanbul, and St. Petersburg became the origins of my thoughts about material cultures that celebrate luxury with texture and contrasting surfaces,” says Baldwin. Reve jewel glass mosaic is certainly dreamlike. The shimmering elongated rectangles create a chatoyant design with undulating movement. Influences from Islamic Art can be seen in the geometry of Joie stone water jet mosaic, with its diamonds and triangles. And Cosmique glass mosaic has the same sybaritic splendor as the golden sheen of certain Russian onion domes.

Mosaics in the Aurora Collection are unique because every mosaic is custom-made, sized to fit each installation. With their ability to be installed on both vertical and horizontal surfaces, these aureate mosaics can make virtually any surface shine.
