Sofa frames that pierce the upholstery and table legs that peep through the tabletop make a decorative feature out of elements that are ordinarily hidden.

When Samuel Accoceberry designed the Yas armchair by for BOSC he was inspired by the Aquitaine region of France where BOSC is located. The chair’s oak, that pierces the eiderdown upholstery, recalls the wooden stilts that were used by local shepherds.

The back legs of Nendo‘s Peg chair for Cappellini pierce the upholstered backrest like wooden stakes.

The circular Soft side tables by Curtis Popp feature brightly colored powder-coated steel legs that pierce each solid rift-sawn white oak or walnut wood table top.

The slabs of colored resin used to make Wonmin Park‘s Haze series of chairs and tables are cast in separate molds before being joined together. The result is a series of  joints and intersections that are clearly visible through each translucent slab.
