Jan Kath’s hand-knotted Spacecrafted rugs are replicas of high-resolution photographs of space.

Made in Kathmandu from Chinese silk and hand-carded and handspun Tibetan highland wool, the rugs are crafted by a team of specialist weavers. Each rug has more than 150-200 knots per square inch and uses a palette of up to 60 colors.

"For years I had wanted to use the images of this awe-inspiring stellar spectacle in my textile work," says Kath. "But only now, with 15 years' experience and a huge pool of expertise, are we technically in a position to produce these images in the highest resolution. The result is photorealistic and quality of this kind has never before been achieved on the market."
