Lamps For Little Ones: Education Trend
When it comes to creating products for the kids, designers can really let their imaginations run wild. Although perfect for nurseries and bedrooms, there’s no reason why these playful lighting designs couldn’t be used to bring a little lighthearted fun into restaurants, hotels and offices.
Available in three sizes and eight colors, these hand blown glass balloon lights by Czech lighting brand Brokis appear to magically float next to the wall or from the ceiling. Operated by a simple cord that looks like the balloon’s string, the lamps take a standard bulb and screw onto a metal plate that fixes to them to the wall or ceiling.
A CFL bulb turns the humble oak birdhouse into a whimsical wall lamp. The lamp, designed by Dutch brand Inke, comes with tenants – a set of birds made of vintage wallpaper.
Miffy, the iconic bunny character created by Dutch artist Dick Bruna, is now available as a larger than life lamp by Dutch brand Mr Maria. Perfect for kid’s nurseries or bedrooms, the friendly design exudes a soft, warm glow.
Designed by Tokyo-based designer Tadao Shimizu for Japanese manufacturer Abovo, this cloud-shaped washi paper lamp is supported by a series of fine metal rods that resemble silver raindrops.
The playful MyPetLamp-HoweePup is made of non-toxic odorless plastic that kids can draw on with its accompanying washable marker. The lamp also comes with a low voltage (12v) replaceable bulb that bathes a room in soft light.
