The Coach Chair by Jean-Marie Massaud for Avenue Road
‘s Coach Chair for Avenue Road blends classic elegance and comfort with an ecologically friendly composition. The handsome aesthetic of this generous lounge chair is more than enough to make it an enduring new design, but the use of ecologically thoughtful materials that use a flax fiber and a bio-resin composite goes even further to designate the design as a new classic.
The Coach Chair comes in low or high back variations, with an ottoman. The sustainable back material comes in a matte or glossy finish and the swivel base is clad in walnut (low versions also have a stainless steel sled base option).
The shell material was developed in France by F©d©ric Morand, an engineer who had been working with composite materials in the automotive and aeronautics industries. He began using flax when we was looking for a recyclable substitute for fiberglass, since flax is a renewable material with similar mechanical properties. In addition, flax is lighter and requires 10 times less energy to produce. The transformation of the flax plant into fiber, unlike viscose, bamboo or corn, produces no waste.
The Coach Chair is exclusively offered by Avenue Road in North America. Visit Avenue Road for full details.
