Digitized Designs: Surface Trend
Following on from last year’s pixel-inspired trend, this year, surface designs inspired by the digital world continue to dominate interiors. From retro computer graphics to computer-generated and pixelated patterns, we round up five of our favorite digital designs.
The geometric patterns on Toronto-based textile artist Libs Elliott‘s quilts are created using code framework from Processing. Made from 100 percent cotton, the blankets perfectly combine the digital with the handmade.
The bright pixel pattern of Barcelona-born, London-based Cristian Zuzunaga‘s Labyrinth blankets are knitted in contrasting colors using a jacquard technique and a blend of high quality cotton with a hint of nylon.
Hussein Chalayan's ‘Approaching’ rug for Swiss rug manufacturer Ruckstuhl's 2013 Collection features a traditional oriental rug border with figures from retro western video games in the centre.
The new Affreco mosaic by Paola Navone for Bisazza‘s 2014 Collection features a bright and pixellated floral made up of 4 modules.
Missoni Home’s Lobos fabric features pixelated images of vibrant bouquets for a contemporary take on the traditional floral print.
