D&A Seating by Assaf Israel and Joynout Public Elements
Designers often claim to have been inspired by nature, but how many actually use this inspiration to create products that duplicate the experience of the outdoors? Assaf Israel's innovative D&A Seating does just that. The versatile, durable, and modular system forms "interesting landscapes of crevices and slopes where people can relax, retreat, and meet."
D&A Seating Promotes Spontaneous Communication and Collaboration
Modeled after the impromptu repose offered by a pile of rocks, or haphazard collection of logs, D&A is an assortment of soft, upholstered modular pieces that feature gentle asynchronous curves and inviting, gently serpentining backs.
The unusual shapes invite users to experiment, to not only discover new ways to lounge about and casually converse, but also to withdraw in comfortable contemplation: the individual pieces are easy to move, thus leaving the option to sit alone and "watch the world go by."
A single system is comprised of three individual units, which are each two meters long. The modules come together naturally into a coherent flowing form, "just like a DNA structure."
And the high-quality, polyurethane, leather-like fabric is durable, abrasion-resistant, and low maintenance, providing a pragmatic and creative solution for public seating in various venues.
