Milan-based designers Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere started their careers at well-known design offices in Milan, before working on their first commissions together in 2003 and eventually establishing Studio Lucidi & Pevere in 2006. In 2010, the pair designed Foscarini‘s Aplomb series, an exploration of the use of cast-concrete lighting fixtures. This year, the company has released a new LED version of the ceiling pendant, in addition to a new floor lamp design.

Aplomb was Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere’s first collaboration with Foscarini; its new floor lamp design continues to celebrate concrete’s versatility as a decorative material while LED technology improves its efficiency

Like the original Aplomb hanging lamp, the LED fixture is offered in three finishes-warm brown, natural gray, and white-that still allow the materiality of the concrete shade to come through. Designed to hang alone or in a group, the pendant is ideal for use above occasional tables, bars, or counters. It’s long-lasting LED light source reduces maintenance work and saves energy.

Aplomb’s new floor lamp version has the same aesthetic of the pendant, but in two slender uplight options that can be rearranged in a space as needed: The smaller version has an 8-inch base and a slender 3 5/8-inch diameter shade; a larger model has a 12 1/2-inch base and 6 5/8-inch diameter shade. Also designed in brown, gray, and white, the floor lamp is available with a halogen bulb that is shielded from view by the conical shade surrounding it.
