Marbled: Surface Trend
Chosen by designers for its colorful, swirling striations and connotations of craftsmanship and luxury, marble furniture and interiors have been enjoying something of a renaissance over the past few years. So it’s of no surprise that in turn we have seen designers using the technique of marbling to recreate the look of marble on textiles and wallcoverings.
Danish designer Pernille Snedker Hansen has adapted the ancient technique of marbling to make brightly patterned wooden flooring and wall panels. Called Marbelous Wood, the pine wood designs are available for purchase through Snedker Studio.
British brand Osborne & Little transfer the marbling trend onto the walls with its Travertino collection.
Zinc Textile's silk and linen mix Marbleous Collection mimics highly veined pieces of marble with luminous striations.
www.designyourwall.com has used a Venetian Marble pattern on its removable and reusable Wallpaper Tiles, $48.60 for two sheets.
Whitehorn is a British, luxury fabric brand specializing in marbling. Designs are hand marbled onto 100% Habotai silk fabrics and made into unique cushions and lampshades.
