Doll by Ionna Vautrin for Foscarini
French designer Ionna Vautrin has created a cute and characterful table lamp design for Italian lighting brand Foscarini.
Doll is a warm presence with an essential, evocative charm, inspired by traditional wooden Japanese Kokeshi Dolls.
Vautrin’ s initial inspiratiom, the design of old-fashioned oil lamps, is evident in the lamp’s soft and rounded form. However the lamp takes it’s name, Doll, from Vautrin’s second source of inspiration; Japanese Kokeshi dolls. The long slender body and large head of Japanese Kokeshi dolls are clearly reflected in the lamp’s dome-shaped, blown glass diffuser and colorful plastic stem.
Made from plastic polycarbonate, ABS and blown glass, the Doll lamp’s shade can be easily removed to provide access to the bulb within. Accessible and versatile, Doll is available in four colors: red, green, classic ivory and a soft grey.
