Ascribe guest chair by Joe Ricchio for Geiger
California-based designer Joe Ricchio has designed a new guest chair for American furniture brand Geiger. The Ascribe chair pays homage to the work of legendary designer Ward Bennett, who created a collection of chair and table designs for Geiger in the 70s and 80s.
The chair preserves the Ward Bennett legacy though its emphasis on comfort and natural lines.
Lightweight yet robust, the architectural form of Ascribe is reminiscent of early iterations of Bennett’s iconic Scissor lounge chair; it’s slight recline and padded seat offer a comfort that is not normally associated with office chairs.
Ricchio has succeeded in capturing the essence of mid-century residential furniture in a design that was built for the 21st century using advanced wood-carving technology. Ascribe’s finely tailored upholstery is combined with a kiln-dried, premium grade, solid wood frame that is available in ash or maple and made in the USA with wood from managed forests.
