Roommate/CL Casegoods by Adden Furniture

There’s something about the Roommate/CL Series of Casegoods that’s undeniably appealing. Sure, the collection is a bit of a throwback, but in a good way that synthesizes the best of the old with the newest of the new—sort of like great 50s Middle Americana meets smooth, contemporary Scandinavian styling.

Indeed, with a location in Lowell, Massachusetts, manufacturer Adden Furniture lies somewhere midway between L.A. and Copenhagen, and the Roommate series seems like a compromise between the two. The collection includes multiple pieces that will work in a variety of venues: wardrobes, chests, writing desks, bookcases, TV/DVD stands, and two-drawer pedestals.

Each of these reveals their hybrid constitution through a mix of oak veneer sides, laminate backs and HPL tops with PVC edges. Drawers demonstrate the excellent craftsmanship and high quality construction via a flawless dovetailed drawer box on all four sides.

And with Adden Furniture’s Roommate/CL Casegoods, dimensional options abound. The line includes three-, four-, and five-drawer chests; desks with side three-drawer storage or unencumbered writing surfaces with an expansive worktop; and  two-door wardrobes with or without drawers—as tall as 75” or as short as 59”.

The many sizes and styles reinforce the adaptability of the Roommate line. And with aesthetic options like matching or contrasting wood grains, solid black tops in HPL, and a large range of handles and pulls, there’s a Roommate for any application—residence halls, college apartments, even that first studio flat in the city.

About the Manufacturer: Though it’s tempting to refer to the wares offered by manufacturer Adden Furniture as “no nonsense,” the term doesn’t quite do this product line justice. Adden creates durable and appealing furnishings for educational, contract, healthcare, military, and government venues. And this is quality product to be sure—made to withstand the assorted rigors of those demanding environments—but Adden’s line of casegoods, lounge seating, tables, chairs, and fabrics is aesthetically appealing as well. Some calling cards of an Adden piece include solid wood, dovetailed joints, and luxurious upholstery in a variety of vibrant colors.
