Every year, I look forward to Greenbuild. Although green products are no longer atypical, Greenbuild continues to be the showcase for the newest concepts in green technologies and green building product. With Greenbuild only a month away, it’s time to start poking around for the next great green product before it hits the streets.

So, while digging through my resources I found it apropos to talk about USFContract’s Bamboo Hues Vol. 2, a product that takes one of natures most renewable and sustainable resources and transforms it into one of the most durable, and most colorful, flooring choices.  Made with strand woven Natural Bamboo®, Bamboo Hues is a flooring plank that is twice as hard as oak.  Bamboo Hues Vol. 2 uses proprietary materials such as MOSO6™ bamboo, a premium bamboo with a minimum of 6 years maturity (as opposed to immature bamboo with 3-5 years maturity), and ensures onsite sourcing and overseeing of mature bamboo product.  MOSO6™ means that the bamboo used is taken from the lower torso of the trunk, which is the hardest and most dense section of the bamboo plant. Good to know.

Bamboo Hues Vol. 2 is the first bamboo flooring solution that meets GreenGuard Children & Schools Certification, GreenGuard’s most stringent certification.  Products with this certification can be used to earn credits in CHPS Best Practices Manual for K-12 schools, USGBC’s LEED Green Building Rating System, Green Guide for Healthcare, NAHB Green Building Guidelines, Green Globes, Regreen to name a few.
