In paying close attention to Noriega-Ortiz’ ideals, the listful Twister Table Lamp by Abyu Lighting takes its own spin at modern illumination.

Like a Feather Tornado, the Twister Table Lamp by BNO Design for Abyu Lighting Creates a Flurry of Bright Excitement

With its whimsical appearance of fluffed and patted down white feathers that appear to be blowing through thin air, the Twister Table Lamp is a gorgeous snapshot of motion caught in action. Add in its acrylic base and to the shade and the entire lamp measures 12”in diameter and 25” high. The lamp itself displays a lot of Noriega-Ortiz in its tailored look. As Cool Hunting writer Karen Day describes of the industrial-turned-hospitality designer, “Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz’ personality is so effervescent it seemed to trail behind him recently when, dressed in floral Doc Martens and a straw hat, he led a group of journalists on a detailed tour of the Mondrian SoHo, his latest and third installment for the luxury hotel brand.”

BNO Design has been able to scatter their talent in a wide variety of design fields that range from the architectural residences and hospitality designs to lighting with partners like Abyu Lighting – which stands for “And Bob’s Your Uncle”. As their site describes, Abyu began in 1994. Steven Wine and Michael Landon decided to combine their artistic talents and open a store on West 22nd Street in New York to showcase their handmade products along with wonderfully created products by other local artists. Participating in the fun five years after the company’s inception, many versions of the Twister Table lamp are displayed on the Abyu website as private commissions, helping to move the company to its current design atelier status.
