Simplissimo Collection by Jean Nouvel for Ligne Roset
The gym is an attractive idea for many – taut muscles, happy endorphins, pumping music, and in many these days, a hot sauna with whirpool for relaxing. For Jean Nouvel however, there is more to appreciate. “I like simple objects, produced in a natural way, with a little wood, foam and plastic,” begins architect Jean Nouvel of his new Simplissimo Collection by Ligne Roset. “This is a direct aesthetic, which goes straight to the point, inspired by fitness.”

For those of us who might feel odd laying down on a weight room-inspired chaise longue without busting out a killer abdominal routine, its not that extreme. In fact, the soft, supple, black upholstery that hugs each of the Simplissimo Collection’s metal structures, might surprise even the small population who has set out to conquer the six-pack.
“This faux banality renders such objects moving. Different and similar, like the members of a family which will grow and take on color over the generations,” Nouvel continues of the Simplissimo Collection that is made from a soldered tubular steel and MDF frame, plywood back panel, and a matte-chromed or black lacquered steel base. The seat and back is polypropylene overlaid with an integral seat cushion in Bultex foam and polyester quilting. Adding a final, fashionable touch to the design, the Kanda and Scuba fabric upholstery hugs the structure in the right places – allowing for gathering in the four corners.
Make the idea of fitness the most comfortable, relaxing time of your day while leaning back on the simple, ergonomic lines of Jean Nouvel’s Simplissimo Collection for Ligne Roset.
