Top Ten: Teak Dining Table Designs
Native to south and southeast Asia, the properties of the flowering tropical hardwood known as Teak are as numerous as its uses. In South India, this hearty wood is used for windows frames, doors, and even in culinary practice – to make a jackfruit dumpling they call “pellakai gatti”, where batter is poured into teak leaves and steamed. In this week’s Top Ten list, we pay a tribute to the Tectona grandis by celebrating it in rectangular dining room table form, with everything from extendible, modern versions to simply-stilted and tradtional.
