The Onto Collection by Matteo Thun for Duravit

Only while scouring the internet for bathtubs do we come across a bathroom tub made from wood – very rarely is it an entire bathroom collection. To answer our “search” request, the brand new Duravit line entitled Onto, designed by Matteo Thun, takes locally-sourced wood to a new space altogether.

Versatile and super durable, the Onto bathroom series was created for both private and semi-public settings, like hotels. Seen as an avant-garde collection that uses bonded, anti-warp and zero-emission plywood along with ceramic to create a distinctive collection, the Onto comes 16 different solutions appropriate for both commercial and residential settings.

Take your choice between plywood consoles with built-in washbasins, tall or low cabinets, an upholstered drawer unit with sitting area, a floor standing pillar-shaped vanity unit with built-in round sink, bathtubs and illuminated mirrors. According to Tim Schroeder, President of Duravit USA, “Duravit’s focus on the semi-public environment is particularly exciting because it brings together the high-level design and quality that Duravit is known for, with the functional aspects of competitive price, and efficient installation and cleaning required for commercial settings.”

As with its designer, Matteo Thun, who believes that cost engineering defines the aesthetics of the 21st century, Onto is a clear champion for the beauty of economy – and the spa-like quality of your private bathroom.

About the Manufacturer: Duravit was founded more than 190 years ago in the picturesque Black Forest town of Hornberg, Germany.  At the beginning of the 20th Century, this small industrial unit later gave way to the primary manufacturing site for Duravit’s sanitary ceramics. Since then, Duravit has been solely dedicated to “Living Bathrooms,” and now offers a vast range of bathroom solutions, ceramic sanitaryware, bathroom furniture, and a wide variety of products in its recently- established “bathtubs and wellbeing” segment.
