The first set of modular mirrors I saw were from Ikea. In a half-wave shape multiplied by as many sets of three or four that you wanted, they fit neatly together or could be spaced apart slightly for a different effect altogether. Instead of the human-sized piece mirrors that San Francisco dwellers like myself – who used to live there with no car – could not truck home no matter what how good the screaming deal we snatched it for was, a mirror like the Tetris is both more interesting than a half-wave shape, and much easier to get around.

This set of modular glass mirrors can be arranged in a wide variety of ways, each producing a different graphic pattern, or mosaic of shapes that are reminiscent of our favorite game of fast-acting organization. Although different colors they are not, nor do they include the long, narrow or squat, square pieces, the Tetris by Julia Dozsa does oddly-shaped room designs a favor with its flexibility. Choose between the base dimensions of three different sizes (that can be manipulated in your own way): 80cm L x 66.5 cm W, 79.8 L x 39,9 cm W, or 66.5 L x 53.2 cm W.

Consider a Tetris mirror aside your dining room table, accentuating the middle centerpiece or extending along the entire table for a sideways glance whenever necessary. It would also make a great bedroom mirror behind your bed’s headboard or next to your closet for a quick check after dressing. Each piece is made in Italy by Fiam Italia, which has been around since the early 1970s, devoted to the art of making a wide selection of glass furnishings and products by many different designers.
