Welcome readers to another installment in our series this week on great, green casegoods… Though this is, in fact, a retroactive thematic invention, we might have named it so, such does the incidental concordance of products like Decca Contract’s GL Collection, Falcon’s Syntech Training Tables, and Hon’s Vicinity Storage System suggest a focus on contract offerings. Ever happy to add a fourth contender to close out the week, here’s AG’s Level T. One look at the front view of this office desk + storage bureau and you’ll appreciate whereof the name. The finely crafted work surface implies architecture and alpha-numerics at once. Its slim, sculptural, and cantilevered look suggests an auspicious synergy between functionality and aesthetic appeal.

I’m taken in by its appearance to be sure. Just as with other cantilevered masterstrokes like Myto and Onda, Level T taxes the structural imagination. That is to say, the piece’s asynchronous assembly imparts a momentary “how did they do that?” reflex, since from a certain perspective it seems impossibly balanced on its lone leg. Yet closer inspection (and a second view) reveals that the long side of the table is buttressed by the storage unit, which not only provides contrasting color and aesthetic balance, but also a well-ventilated home for your mainframe as well as cleverly-hidden conduits for cables and the like.

Notwithstanding the organizational perks conferred by Level T, the show-stopper of the piece remains the work surface, especially when seen from the front. Even so, manufacturer ag seems aware of the need to highlight Level T’s balanced aspects, if you’ll pardon the pun. They characterize Level T as a comfortable alliance between a modern look and an artisanal process: “it combines contemporary forms with craftsman tradition from the master cabinetmakers… level is style. Style because it speaks of the values of whoever possesses it. Sensitivity towards beauty. Demands for a job well done. Committed to producing new scenarios.”

Among these proposed scenarios, you’ll find Level T in your concocted combinations of wenge, oak, glossy black and white lacquer, or black and white soft touch.
