A Dash of Panache Between your Feet: California Faucets’ Style Drain Series
If you happen to look down and see a non-descript, circular piece of perforated, bend-able tin, chances are you're in the shower and gazing at one of the millions of eminently forgettable bathroom drains in tubs and showers across the globe. Long ignored among the roster of multifarious d©cor details, the hapless shower drain joins the ranks of the lowly switch plate for throwaway residential features. And perhaps it's even lower on the totem pole than that (it's hard to respect something whose job includes being stepped on).
Thankfully, California Faucets out of Huntington Beach is sliding in to fill this neglected niche. Their Style Drain Series is a collection of "four new patent-pending shower drain designs, each with its own distinctive decorative characteristics.”
StyleDrain. Designed by California Faucets’.
The idea is inspired and the four styles are inspiring: "Mission" features a grid of perfect squares reminiscent of decorative touches in classical Spanish architecture; "Wave's" hallmark is a subtle undulation that evokes a gently plashing sea; "Deco" plays on the arty embellishments of the Modernist fetish for geometric shapes; and "Deco Swirl" is an inviting fusion of Art Deco patterns and hypnotizing curves. All four drains come finished in standard brass, though California Faucets offers options aplenty-nickel, polished chrome, and antique copper catch my eye, though there are many more besides (see the list). The square profile of Style Drain makes installation easy. Every model is designed to fit flush and hide hardware, so they integrate seamlessly with all styles of shower stalls.
